Front Line Defenders is seeking 2 Grants Coordinators to take on this challenging role based in the organisation’s headquarters in Dublin. The Grants Coordinators will be responsible together with the Grants team, under the direction of the Head of Protection Grants, for administering Front Line Defenders Protection Grants programme to human rights defenders.
The successful candidate will have previous experience of human rights related work, working with people from different cultural backgrounds and a sensitivity towards the situation of human rights defenders. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and one of the other working languages of the organisation (Arabic / French / Russian / Spanish) are required, and while not essential, knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
Contract: Full time position (Monday – Friday) – 35 hours per week.
Salary: Minimum EUR 30,089 per annum.
Please note that we cannot make exceptions to the language requirement.
- Administering Front Line Defenders' systems and procedures for providing grants to human rights defenders at risk, including the database;
- Liasing with applicant human rights defenders and organisations on the preparation of grant applications to ensure they are as viable, cost effective and reflect best practice as much as possible;
- Preparing an analysis of each application received for the Director, including checking for duplicate applications where appropriate, in order to inform decision-making by the Board of Trustees;
- Organising the payment of grants, including emergency grants, and maintaining meticulous financial and other records;
- Maintaining contact with human rights defenders and organisations which have received grants and ensure that Front Line Defenders receives adequate reporting on how grants have been utilised;
- Undertaking and/or supporting evaluations of Front Line Defenders' grant making activities;
- To produce whatever reports and analysis are deemed necessary with regard to Front Line Defenders' grant making programme.
- To work collaboratively and flexibly with all staff, fellows and volunteers and undertake whatever other relevant tasks/projects are specified by the Executive Director, Deputy Director or Head of Protection Grants.
